Website Accessibilityback to top

At Theatre of Wine, we're committed to providing a website that is accessible to as many users as possible. We understand that many visitors may have sight problems or other disabilities and therefore view accessibility as an essential part of our website.

We have tried to make our new website as accessible as possible by following standards and guidelines laid out by the World Wide Web Consortium in their Web Accessibility Initiative.

We hope that all of our users enjoy the same quality of service.

Standards Complianceback to top

All pages on this site comply with all priority 1 and 2 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, other than where discussed below.

All pages validate as transitional XHTML 1.0.

All style sheets used on this site validate as CSS.

Contentback to top

Theatre of Wine is making every effort to ensure all content on the website is clear and easily understood.

Visual design and layoutback to top

The Theatre of Wine website is designed to be clear and allow for easy navigation.

For example, the text is purple against a sufficiently contrasting background colour (white), making it clearly visible. Headings are clearly noticeable.

Our website contains many inter-text links to useful information. These are consistently underlined to make them obvious and easy to open. Additionally, the colour of the text changes to black when the mouse hovers over a link.

General links, such the main menu (on the left hand side of the website), the sub-menu (at the bottom of the site) and the page content menu, are not underlined but are consistently in capital letters to make them obvious and easy to open.

External links all open in new windows.

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout, giving greater usability for assistive technology.

The site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers - see Change your browser settings.

If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

Pop-up windowsback to top

The use of pop-up windows on this site has been kept to a minimum.

Pop-up windows are used to provide information on wines when the results of a wine search are displayed.

Changing your browser settingsback to top

Our website pages are designed so that you can change the font style, size and colour and also the background colour used throughout the site. If you wish to do so, you will need to change your browser settings.
